Chutzpah! The Lisa Nemetz International Showcase of Jewish Performing Arts is the Lower Mainland's winter music, theatre, dance and comedy festival presenting international, national and local artists. The Chutzpah! Festival delivers audiences work that is forward-looking, multi-layered, and entertaining. This year's Festival runs February 11 to March 04, 2012 at the Norman Rothstein Theatre and other venues in and around Vancouver. Also watch for our Chutzpah! Plus show running March 6-11 at the Firehall Arts Centre.
History of Chutzpah!
Chutzpah! The Lisa Nemetz Showcase of Jewish Performing Arts was established in 2001 and addresses the need for the community to support Jewish artists and their collaborators to create and perform meaningful work that voices and/or celebrates their individual concerns and speaks to the myriad of issues facing their community and beyond.
An endowment generously donated by the David Levi Family in 2001 to honour the memory of Lisa Nemetz, who was a dancer, a lawyer, a lover of the arts and a tireless advocate for the treatment and care of women with breast cancer, has allowed Chutzpah! to ignite the imagination of the community by an outstanding caliber of art seen each year.
Please contact Artistic Managing Director Mary-Louise Albert regarding proposals for the Chutzpah! Festival and other artistic programming.
